Classes

Can you tell me more about the online and private individual classes?


All classes are taught 1-on-1 with a dedicated tutor. This ensures that you receive your tutor’s full attention & can make fast progress. Each private individual classes lasts 1 hr. Online class is taught via Skype or Zoom (Online), allowing you to communicate with your tutor & share learning materials as if you were in the same room. Each onlive classes lasts between 50 and 55 min. Normally, the tutor will first assess your level and discuss your goals with you. Then they’ll aim to tailor the classes to your individual needs. Many students choose to take 1-on-1 classes to improve their speaking skills. However, tutors can also help with other skills such as grammar & listening, as well as specific challenges such as using the language at work & passing exams. Whatever your background and motivation, sign up for a trial session and see if online classes are the right choice for you!




What am I going to learn in class?


We believe that the basic goal of learning a new language is to be able to communicate with native speakers of it, so I bet on a methodology based on the communicative approach, which teaches students to face real-life situations with all necessary resources (grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, more common structures, etc.).




How do I know if this teaching method is right for me?


We offer a free 30-minute trial class to its new students, where you can check the effectiveness and benefits of our teaching system. In addition, you will be able to check your level of Spanish and see the differences between my different types of classes to be able to choose the one that best suits your needs.




How can I book classes?


To book a class you need to go to the book a class page, you will see our online calendar, and book the class directly through the system, at the times that suit you most.




Can class vouchers be shared by multiple people?


No, online bonuses are individual and non-transferable with the sole exception of companies that buy multiple bonuses to be used by various employees, who will be able to decide how many classes each of them receives




When can I receive my classes via Skype?


We are open from Monday to Friday, from 9 to 13 hours and from 15 to 21 hours, every week of the year. At that time you can book the classes you want by clicking on our calendar (with a minimum advance of 24 hours and maximum of 30 days). All our classes start at the hourly.




Is it possible to teach outside of normal hours?


Yes, although at a higher cost than the usual classes. If you are interested in receiving lessons at a different time than your Spanish school is open. please contact me by writing to this email: aprendiendoacolor@gmail.com and I will make a quote.




Do I need to install a program on my computer for classes?


There is no need to install any program because Your Spanish school teaches the classes by videoconference through the Skype and Zoom programs (click here to learn how to use Zoom) that have no cost to the student and that can be accessed from the internet without having to download any program. In addition, both platforms have apps for Android and Apple mobile devices.




Can you tell me more about the trial session?


During the 30 minute trial session, you’ll be able to practice your Spanish and get a feel for what it would be like to learn via 1-on-1, online classes. Your tutor will assess your level and try to understand your needs and interests. This will allow them to customise any classes you decide to take. You will be encouraged to speak in Spanish as much as possible, but of course you can speak in English too! To arrange a trial session, first sign up here.




I've already been studying Spanish for a while. How will the tutor asses my current level?


Your Spanish tutor will assess your language level and discuss your specific learning goals during the trial session. They will then customise the classes based on this.




If my tutor is a native speaker and I'm a complete beginner, how are we going to communicate?


All of the tutors can speak English, so there won’t be any communication problems. We believe it’s best to start speaking the language from day one – there’s nothing stopping you!




How long will it take me to learn Spanish?


It depends on your personal abilities and the time devoted to learning Spanish. The more classes you take, and the more exposure to the language you get outside the class, the sooner you will learn the language. Think of it much like going to the gym. The more effort you put in, the faster the results. No one can accurately tell you how long it will take you to learn another language. Don't be fooled by unrealistic claims of "Learning a language in 2 weeks", there is no shortcut to language learning, it takes time and effort. You can nevertheless learn something new every day.




How can I cancel my lessons?


You can cancel your classes 24 hours in advance. After that time, you will be charged for the class. To cancel a lesson, login into the client portal > View Bookings and click on the red letters "Cancel booking". After doing that you will be given your credit back automatically.




Are classes mainly based on grammar?


No, our classes focus on communication skills in Spanish, so they cover different areas such as grammar, vocabulary, culture, social interaction, and we foster the development of the four skills: listening, reading, writing and speaking.




What happens if my teacher misses my class?


Teachers always notify us if they need to cancel a class due to some last minute problem or if they are sick, so we can inform our students and find a substitute teacher. However, it could happen that for some unknown reason such as a power cut or internet outage the teacher does not attend the class. If that happens, contact us immediately. You will be given your credit back and the teacher will reschedule the class immediately. We can even reschedule it at the moment of the no-show if we have a tutor available at that time.




Will I get reminders about my class's session?


Yes. We'll send you an email reminder 2 days before and 1 hour in advance of your lesson. You can also add your cell phone number to your profile to receive text alerts 20 minutes before your lesson starts.




What kind of content do your tutors use?


Our content is aligned to the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) standards and includes diverse, interactive materials including learning modules, document writing, video clips, games, songs, poems, role plays, debates, impromptu speeches and more.




What are the Actfl standards?


The ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines were created by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages in order to provide a means of assessing the proficiency of a foreign language speaker. The guidelines are broken up into different proficiency levels: novice, intermediate, advanced, superior, and distinguished.





Payments

Is it necessary to purchase a minimum number of classes?


The online classes on Skype are sold in 5, 10 session bonuses. If you want a different number of classes, please contact me by writing to this email: hola@espanollatino.com




Is my Credit Card secure?


Yes. We use Paypal to accept payment either by your own Paypal balance or via their card-processing interface which is one of the most secure in the industry. We do not hold your sensitive information.




Are there any hidden costs or additional taxes?


No, the price we publish is the price you pay.




How can I pay for my classes?


You can pay by PayPal by your account funds or by credit or debit card. We can offer additional methods if for any reason Paypal is not an option.

What happens if a class is interrupted by technical problems?


If a class is interrupted on several occasions or cannot be completed by specific or attestable technical problems to Your Spanish school, the session will be repeated at another time at no cost to the student. If these technical problems are repeated and due to problems of internet connection by the student, the outstanding classes will be rescinded in the event of the impossibility of properly providing our training, returning the student the money proportional to unenjoyed sessions.




What equipment do we need for online lessons?


You'll need: One of the following devices, with a built-in or external camera and microphone, and a high-speed Internet connection.




What happens if the video freezes or drops?


We know Internet connections aren't perfect. If the video call drops or freezes, usually it will start up again by itself and the lesson continues. If it doesn’t, close your browser and reopen it and rejoin the lesson. Don’t hesitate to give us a call if you’re having troubles. If a lesson is severely impacted by technology issues and you can’t resolve them, let us know. If you're not happy with a lesson, we will refund your money.




What is interactive thecnology


To go beyond the blackboard – that is the goal of using interactive classroom technology. Español Latino courses use interactive technology to integrate online resources into everyday assignments. Interactive technology brings books to life on the board while incorporating listening, pronunciation and grammar exercises. Students and teachers use different resources to listen and learn new vocabulary and bring it to life with Google images. Quiz work and timing exercises are done with the touch of the stylus pen on the board.
